For many survivors of a suicide loss, the journey to healing can be lonely, painful, and confusing. Survivors may feel stigmatized or ashamed, as if the suicide was somehow their fault. They may feel abandoned by friends and family who may not understand their struggle. They may not know anyone else who has ever been through this and feel there is no one to talk to who can really understand their experience. This group is intended to create a safe space for survivors to connect with others in similar situations. The Suicide Survivors’ Support group can also:

  • help survivors feel less isolated and alone;
  • provide reassurance that healing is possible, by introducing newer survivors to; others who may be further along;
  • offer validation that grieving is expected and acceptable;
  • provide an opportunity for survivors to talk openly with others who truly understand because they’ve been through it, too;
  • create a chance for survivors to learn from each other.
